Zillow Retreats From iBuying in the Triangle
Ready to sell your home for what it's actually worth? Citing the unpredictability of the housing market as the major reason, Zillow is working to halt its practice of iBuying houses. For those not aware, iBuying is what Zillow has been doing to houses in the Triangle—buying them with cash below the property value, then flipping and selling them for thousands more than they paid.
iBuying the way Zillow (and other big companies like Redfin) does isn't a sustainable practice in the long run, and it has driven up housing costs in the Triangle. But hopefully with Zillow backing out of the iBuying game, housing costs will moderate and reflect an accurate home value.
